Student Opportunities
African Studies Club
The African Studies Club at College of Charleston is currently inactive and seeking motivated student leadership.
For anyone interested in the African Studies Club you do not have to be a African Studies minor to be involved! Let us know if you are interested in participating by contacting Director of African Studies, Dr. Chris Day, dayc@cofc.edu.
Study Abroad
To expand our students’ understanding of global connections, the program strongly encourages study abroad on the African continent for African Studies Minors and requires it for International Studies majors.
There are several options to study abroad through a College of Charleston sponsored program. Faculty-led summer programs are currently offered to Morocco, Rwanda/ Uganda, Ghana, Madagascar and South Africa. In addition CofC has an exchange agreement with the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.
Other African destinations that are available to students via CofC's Center for International Education have included Botswana, Egypt, Gambia, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Uganda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania and Tunisia.
